1. How to setup and use Cadi.Sense Wireless Thermometer?

This is a simple demonstration video on how to use Cadi.Sense Wireless Thermometer. Cadi.Sense allows parents to take their child's temperature automatically and continuously, without disturbing their rest, by simply securing the Cadi.Sense temperature sensor on the child's underpants or diaper so that the sensor is in contact with the lower abdomen. With Cadi.Sense, parents can easily monitor their child's fever with peace of mind. It's as easy as:
1. Stick-On the ThermoSensor
2. Plug-In the SmartNode
3. Find-Out the temperature using your smart phone, tablet, laptop or PC!


2. How to paste the ThermoSensor

  1. Apply a small amount of body lotion onto the lower abdomen area.
  2. Peel off the round paper liner on the Stick On to expose the adhesive.
  3. Paste the ThermoSensor on the adhesive, with the metal part facing outward and away from the adhesive.
  4. Remove the rectangular backing liner.
  5. Paste the ThermoSensor by sticking the adhesive part to the inside of the diaper/undergarment, so that the sensor's metal part wil touch the lower abdomen (left or right) when the diaper/undergarment is properly worn (as shown in the picture).
  6. Please note that the ThermoSensor may take about 10 minutes to rise from room temperature to the body temperature. A temperature reading is sent every 30 seconds to your SmartNode, and this temperature reading will appear on the Cadi.Sense temperature monitoring page.
3. How to remove the ThermoSensor and Stick-On after usage
Peel off the Stick-On from the diaper/undergarment. Remove the Stick-On residue from the ThermoSensor.
4. How to store the ThermoSensor
After every usage, please remember to store the ThermoSensor back into the storage case with the metal piece fitting into the grove of the box and the barcode side of the ThermoSensor facing up. Make sure that the ThermoSensor fits nicely into the case and you are able to close the cap of the storage case. This will make sure that the ThermoSensor switches off completely, thus saving battery power.
5. Why do we place the ThermoSensor on the left or right side of the lower abdomen and not elsewhere?
It is well known that the temperature of blood in a major artery closely reflects body temperature, so measuring temperature from an area close to a major artery will give readings that are more accurate than those measured from an area far from a major artery. We recommend measuring temperature from the middle of the left or right lower abdomen because that area is near a major artery called the external iliac artery.
6. How do I know whether ThermoSensor is working?
Remove ThermoSensor from casing, the LED light will start blinking (rather dimly) every second for 3 times, and it will blink every 5 seconds. If it is not blinking, it is likely to have run out of battery or faulty. In that case, contact Technical Support to get a replacement.
7. Why does my ThermoSensor always fall off?
Please be gentle when removing the pants.  Ensure that the ThermoSensor is securely pasted on the flat surface of the undergarment/diaper. (See instructions under the section "How to Paste the ThermoSensor to the Body".)
8. If itching occurs, what should I do?
This should not happen as the ThermoSensor material has passed stringent skin sensitivity test. If itchness occurs, apply prickly heat powder, lotion or nappy rash cream to the area of the skin that touches the ThermoSensor.  You may also want to re-attach the sensor to the other side of the undergarment/diaper (left/right lower abdomen area), and again apply lotion to the area of the skin that will touch the sensor.
9. Is ThermoSensor safe to be pasted on the baby?
First of all, ThermoSensor meets the FCC and CE regulatory requirements for low power radio devices. Moreover, ThermoSensor uses a small coin cell – those typically used in watches and calculators – to operate and the power transmitted is very limited and is typically 100 times less than that of mobile phones. A mobile phone operates on about 0.75 to 1 watt of power. In comparison, our ThermoSensor has a transmitter power of less than 0.001 watt only.


10. How to monitor temperature directly via SmartNode WiFi - Fast Setup
This section will provide a fast setup so that you can directly access Cadi.Sense web application hosted on the SmartNode. (You are still recommended to perform “D. Advanced setup” so that you can monitor the temperature on any computer at home or when you are away from home.)

  1. A smart phone (eg. iPhone), tablet (eg. iPad), laptop or any WiFi-enabled device will be required.
  2. No internet or WiFI router is required.
Step-By-Step Guide:
  1. Plug in the SmartNode to a wall outlet at a suitable location where you want to monitor your child's temperature (e.g. your child's room). Turn on power of wall outlet.
  2. Go to WiFi settings page of your smart phone. Connect to the WiFi network (or SSID):
    (you can find this SSID on the SmartNode product label)
  3. Open your internet browser (Note:for Android phone users, you may use firefox browser) and go to
  4. The sensor selection page will appear with the pre-registered Sensor. Click to select the sensor and start monitoring the temperature. Please refer to “A. Legends” for the legends of each of the icons.
11. How to access the internet at the same time monitor temperature on any computer within local network when you are at home - Intermediate setup
You would need to connect your SmartNode to your home Wifi router if you want to monitor the temperature on any computer within the same network.

  1. You need to have a WiFi router set up at home.
  2. Please have your WiFi router's SSID and WEP Key (or pass phrase) ready.
Step-By-Step Guide:
  1. Step 1 to 3: Perform “Fast setup” steps 1, 2 and 3 on the above FAQ question, then click , followed by “Connect to WiFi Router” icon.
  2. Wait for the "Please select your WiFi router" screen to appear. Click on your router’s connect icon and enter your router’s pass phrase (or WEP pass phrase).

  3. The SmartNode will now connect to your router. (This may take several minutes if connection is poor)
  4. A “Connection complete” dialog will pop up. Click “OK” button. Please wait for a LAN URL (eg. to be generated by the router and will be shown on the page. This is the LAN URL that you should key into your browser to connect to SmartNode whenever you are connected to your home WiFi router (specified by Extension Access Point, eg. Aztech_1A0EB4).
  5. Now go to WiFi settings again to connect to your home router, and click on the LAN URL to start accessing the Cadi.Sense web application. Please bookmark this page for future easy access. (For a quick guide on how to navigate through the Cadi.Sense web application, please refer to “A. Legends”)
Please note that turning off power to the SmartNode will disconnect the SmartNode to the WiFi router. This setup has to be performed again.
12. How to monitor temperature when you are outside of home - Advanced setup
If you want to monitor the temperature outside of home, you would need to connect your SmartNode to your home Wifi router and set your router to allow remote access from outside of your local network. Please note that turning off power to the SmartNode will disconnect the SmartNode to the WiFi router. This setup has to be performed again.

  1. You need to have a WiFi router with internet connection set up at home.
  2. Your WiFi router should have UPnP feature enabled. Refer to your router's user manual for details on availability of UPnP feature and how to enable this feature.
  3. After performing advanced setup, do not turn off power to the SmartNode to maintain its connection to the internet. Otherwise this setup has to be performed again.
Step-By-Step Guide:
  1. Step 1 to 6: Perform “Intermediate setup” steps 1 to 6 on the above FAQ question.
  2. Go to in any computer browser outside of home. Log in with you SmartNode ID and password to access the Cadi.Sense application.

    SmartNode ID: NNNNNNNN
    Password: cadi
    (where NNNNNNNN can be found on the product label on SmartNode.)

    If the Cadi.Sense application does not launch, your router may not be uPNP enabled by default, you may need to refer to your router’s user manual on how to enable uPnP or please refer to for details on how to do manual port forwarding.
13. How to monitor temperature using iPhone or Android Apps - SmartPhone users
  1. You need to have a WiFi router with internet connection set up at home.
Step-By-Step Guide:
  1. Step 1 to 6: Perform “Intermediate setup” steps 1 to 6 on the above FAQ question.
  2. Please check out the iPhone App Store or the Android Market to download "Cadi.Sense" journal app. On the Cadi.Sense app, click on "Settings" tab to enter your ThermoSensor ID and click on the "Monitoring" tab to monitor the temperature.

14. How do I configure Port Forwarding for my home router?
Please note that even if you have not done the port forwarding, we are still able to display the temperature data via the, by entering the SmartNodeID and password in “Access Cadi.Sense” page. However, we are not able to access the Cadi.Sense application in the SmartNode.

If you need to access the Cadi.Sense application outside of your home, and
  • your router do not have uPnP function or
  • you fail to enable the uPnP function of your router and
  • you do not want to use a mobile App
  • you find that does not provide enough data.
you could still do port forwarding by looking for your home router ( or in the following list:

15. Why is it that I cannot access to the monitoring page after connecting to the home WiFi router?
Please check that you did not power-off the SmartNode after the connection as this act will disconnect the network. If problem persists, please power-off the SmartNode and power-on again. When the SmartNode starts up, please perform the steps to connect it to your router again.


16. How to use the Cadi.Sense application
Go to Temperature Monitoring Page – Click this to display the page that monitors the readings of one sensor (or the last sensor added).
Go to Sensor Selection Page – Click this to list all the registered sensors in one page.
Refresh – Click this to refresh the page to get the latest temperature. All pages will refresh automatically every 5 minutes.
Go to Advanced Settings – Click this to bring you to the page that lists all the advanced settings that advanced users may need. Please refer to for more details.
Set Date/Time – Click this to set the current time in the SmartNode if the SmartNode date and time is wrong (due to no access to the internet or unable to get any date and time from computer devices).
Add ThermoSensor – Click this to add a new ThermoSensor if there is more than one child that requires temperature monitoring
Remove ThermoSensor – Click this to remove a ThermoSensor when you are no longer using the ThermoSensor. Please note that you will delete all data in the ThermoSensor.
Sensor Settings – Click this to set a Nickname of the person wearing the ThermoSensor, to turn On or Off pop out message alert when the temperature exceeds a threshold and to set the high temperature threshold (Default: 37.8 degree Celsius)
Temperature Chart Page – Click this icon to display the continuous chart. The continuous chart will appear only when there are enough readings to plot a readable chart. This may take more than half an hour depending on the readings of the data received. Readings below 35 degree Celsius will not be plotted.
Temperature History Page – Click this icon to display a summary of the list of temperature in about 15-minute interval.
Export Temperature History Data – This will export the data in .csv format for your further analysis on spreadsheets. Please note that this feature is only available on PC browsers only.
View next 12 hours of data – Click this to navigate to the next 12 hours of temperature readings.
View previous 12 hours of data – Click this to navigate to the previous 12 hours of temperature readings.
Jump to date – Click this to directly access the temperature readings on a particular day.
17. Why can’t I view the temperature of my child immediately after pasting the ThermoSensor?
Please note that you will see "Lo" temperature after the setup is completed.  This shows that the temperature has been received and the reading is less than 32 deg celsius. The ThermoSensor reading will gradually increase from the room temperature to your child's body temperature, sending every 30secs. Please view the temperature monitoring page to get the real-time temperature reading.  This page will automatically refresh every five minutes but you can manually refresh it to get instant reading.  Please note that it may typically take 15-25 minutes for the ThermoSensor reading to stabilize, or the temperature will not increase anymore on subsequent refresh. The stabilized temperature will be the accurate body temperature.  Please note that though the temperature is received and displayed real-time every 30 secs, the SmartNode will only record the highest reading every 15 minute on the history listing page and temperature chart.
18. I log in to and key in my SmartNode ID and password but I can only view the list of my child’s temperature when away from home but cannot access Cadi.Sense application. Why?
It could be that your home WiFi router is not uPnP enabled, in this case, you have several options to choose from in order to access to the temperature monitoring page:
  1. Access the reading and the chart via KidiSense app, this app is FOC is downloadable from the iPhone App store.
  2. Follow the instruction in the User Manual found on and proceed with the Port Forwarding procedure.
19. Why is there a "--" reading shown on my child’s temperature monitoring page?
When there is no temperature reading captured by the system for more than 30 minutes, a "--" reading is shown.
20. Should I perform the “remove sensor” procedure after each episode of monitoring?
No, you should put the sensor, back into the storage case, in the correct position as shown to power-off the battery but you should not remove the sensor from the application as this will clear all the temperature records in the application.
21. Why is there a disjointed portion on the graph of temperature trend?
The disjointed portion will appear on the graph if there is no temperature captured on the system for more than 30 mins. Please check that the SmartNode and the ThermoSensor are not power-Off during that period.
22. The ThermoSensor is correctly attached but the temperature seems to be lower than expected. Why?

  • Whenever a ThermoSensor is attached or re-attached to the skin, it will take 15 to 25 minutes to give an accurate temperature reading.
  • If the ThermoSensor is not held closely against the skin, the temperature reading will generally be lower than normal. Do ensure that the sensor is properly attached to the application area.
  • If the ThermoSensor is placed in the incorrect application area, the temperature reading will generally be lower than normal. (See instructions under section “How to Paste ThermoSensor to the Body”).
  • The ThermoSensor may give lower readings for obese people because the thicker layer of tissue between the iliac artery (see FAQ #1) and the skin surface may affect the transmission of heat from the artery to the skin surface. If you suspect this is happening, we recommend that you check your child’s temperature with an ear thermometer, note the difference between the ear reading and the ThermoSensor reading, and then lower the ThermoSensor fever threshold of 37.8?C by this difference.

23. Why is there no current temperature on the Cadi.Sense website?
Click Refresh and check Last Refreshed Time to ensure it is really being refreshed. Note both the time stated below the temperature and last refreshed time are based on our server time. A dash on temperature reading means that no readings have been recorded for the past 30 minutes. Also from Temperature history list, you should see 4 readings in an hour.
24. Can I monitor my child’s temperature from more than one computer?
Yes, as long as you have Internet access you can monitor your child’s temperature from any computer, anytime, anywhere.
25. I am unable to log in to Why?

  • Make sure you are connected to the WiFi network SSID of your SmartNode. 
  • Open  your browser and enter
26. I have not been hearing the sound notification alerts for fever for several hours now. How do I know whether this is because the fever has subsided or the system has a problem?
Sound notification alerts are based on a High Temperature Threshold setting. A sound alert will be sent when the temperature exceeds the High Temperature Threshold upon page refresh.  Note that the web application will automatically refresh every five minutes.

Upgrading SmartNode Firmware

We are pleased to share with you the release of the latest SmartNode Firmware Version 3. This new version comes with the following new features:
a) Your router password will be remembered and SmartNode will automatically connect to your router whenever it is powered on;
b) New timezone setting to ensure correct date and time in worldwide access of Cadi.Sense;
c) LED lights up to indicate successful connection to;
d) Password required to connect to SmartNode to enhance security.

Note: This section is for advanced users only. DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH FIRMWARE UPGRADING.

Warning: All data may be deleted after this firmware upgrade. So before upgrading, you may want to export the data using the "Export Temperature History Data" icon that will be available only in laptop's web browser.

You need a laptop which is connected to the internet.

Step 1:

Step 2:
Switch on SmartNode and connect your laptop to SmartNode physically using a LAN cable. Note that a LAN cable is provided in your Cadi.Sense package box.

Step 3:
Go to your laptop web browser and enter "". Click the "Device Settings" icon. In the second row of the menu bar, scroll to the forth icon named "Firmware Upgrade" and click it. Click the "Browse" button and select the filename of the firmware that you have downloaded in Step 1 (note that the extension is ".img"). Then click "Apply".

Note: Please be patient as SmartNode will take about 3 to 5 minutes to upgrade the firmware.

Step 4: Reset SmartNode
Go to your laptop web browser and enter "". Click the "Device Settings" icon. In the second row of the menu bar, scroll to the third icon named "Settings Backup" and click it. Click the "Restore" button and then the "Reset" button. SmartNode will reset and reboot in 1 minute. Firmware upgrade is done!

Note: Resetting SmartNode will restore all settings and configuration to the factory defaults, except that:
i) Upgraded firmware will stay and not revert back to the older version;
ii) Pre-registered sensor will be deleted. So you need to manually add sensor after performing this hardware reset.
